Our Core Values

Gospel-Driven

We gather on Sundays to celebrate what Jesus has done for us. He bore our sin and shame on the cross, then rose again defeating death and sin altogether, so that if we repent and trust in him alone, we are saved!

Multi-Cultural

We translate sermons into other languages, and have gatherings specifically for our Lamar in Espanol and Lamar in Zo congregations. We all, no matter our backgrounds, gather to worship of the King of the Universe!

Evangelistic

We believe that every Christian is called to make disciples. We’re aiming to foster a culture where being open about our faith is the norm! Evangelism training and resources are a big part of who we are.

Servant-Hearted

Similar to “Giving” above, we want to be known for serving, no matter what we get in return, because Christ served us, when we could give nothing in return! We have regular opportunities for serving in our community.

Equipping the Saints

Our desire is not to be flashy or have merely a “come-and-see” mentality. We want, instead, to have a “Be equipped then GO” mentality. We aim to see Christians empowered to serve and to lead.

For the Community

We aim to use our time, money, and resources for our community. We want to serve our schools, be in our neighborhoods, and support like-minded ministries like pregnancy centers and fostercare as well as adoption agencies!

Word-Centered

We love preaching through books of the Bible, with the goal that you will come to learn how to read and understand the Bible for yourself! This also means we can’t skip over the hard parts. At Lamar, the Word is central.

Intergenerational

We don’t want to constantly split up age groups. We aim for meaningful relationships between 100-year-olds and 15-year-olds and everything in between. Our music reflects reflects this, and our small groups reflect this!

Giving

We have a long-term aim of leveraging more and more of our church budget toward missions, outreach, fostercare and adoption, pregnancy centers, and our communities! We regularly partner with schools in this way also.

Missions-Oriented

We have a long-term goal of leveraging our time, energy, and resources toward reaching the nations in our backyard and across the world. This involves short-term, as well as longer-term mission trips and partnerships.

Training the Next Generation

We take seriously the task of teaching God’s Word to the next generation. You will see children and students learning and serving in multiple capacities at Lamar. They’re not just the future, they ARE the church, NOW.

Lamar Children

Church is not just for big people. Because of this, we have a VERY fun children’s and preschool ministry! Sunday School classes for all ages, babies to 6th grade, is at 9:45am. Children’s Church is during the Worship hour right after that, at 11am! Kids have so much fun at Lamar, but they also learn so much about God and His Word!

Lamar Families

We love families, and want to be part of seeing parents become the primary spiritual influence on their kids and teens. With that, we have multiple avenues through which families can be encouraged, counseled, and just connect with one another and with Jesus!
