At Lamar, there are expectations for anyone wanting to be members, including pastors and staff! Even members of a church in the New Testament were expected to have certain commitments. Though we don’t see them signing a covenant, or going to a “membership” class, we know that being part of the fellowship meant more than just attending a corporate worship service on Sundays, or volunteering in a particular ministry. This is why we have a covenant membership. We want to be as clear as possible as to what it means to be a part of the church, and what it truly means to follow Christ. We also want to get to know you at least a little, as you get to know us as well!
The Membership Process
This is the perfect class for those wishing to know more about what Lamar is all about. Taught by our pastors, we share our beliefs, our goals for the future, and what it means to be a member of the church.
This sounds more intimidating than it is! This is a time where you get to meet with a pastor personally, and share a bit about your story. This is also to make sure that we get to know you!
We as a church want to affirm and pray over you as you covenant with us. This happens at a Family Meeting called for this specific purpose!
The Worship Ministry at Lamar is an avenue of worship, outreach, and spiritual growth. The only requirement to serve in this exciting ministry is summed up in Psalm 150:6…Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
There is a place for everyone in the ministry of worship. For information about vocal, instrumental, technical opportunities and more, click below.
We have small groups for all ages that meet on Sunday mornings before worship, and also throughout the week. These groups gather to pray for one another, and get into God’s Word together. You can find out all info about our small groups on any Sunday you visit Lamar, or by contacting the church office!
